For me, I think “pay yourself first” is the most important. It forces me to save money first so I wouldn’t need to worry about making a budget for expenses, since I can see how much “disposable” money I have to spend.

I just started this recently. Each month, I allocate $1k of my pay to my brokerage acct and $1k to HYSA (to buy property). I max out 401k and do backdoor roth. And save all my bonus. So each yr, it’s around 70k: 24k + 20k + 6k + 20k bonus.

I just got a really great offer, only downside is the eligibility for maternity leave is after 12 months of employment. I had IVF process to get pregnant. During pre- embryo transfer we were told that girl embryo is being transferred. Currently I am 18 week pregnant. I had anatomy scan and we found out we are having a boy. Baby looked all healthy but due to gender discrepancy, We are asked to do additional testing and genetic disorder screening. Anyone had similar experience?
