Anyone here the younger but more “successful” of two siblings? How do you manage things with your older sibling so it doesnt get awkward?

I’m the older sister and my younger sister is more conventionally successful. (I’m in public interest; she clerked for a federal judge and now works at a prestigious lit boutique and has a big house in a nice neighborhood, our dad is more proud of her, etc).
It shouldn’t really be your job to “manage” things. Things are not awkward with my sister because I am an adult who made my own choices and I’m good with that and happy with myself and my life — which is really no one’s responsibility but my own.
On the other end of it, I have close friends (including teachers) who make substantially less and have less than me, and things aren’t awkward there either because we love each other and root for each other’s successes, I don’t rub what I have that they don’t in their face or anything like that, and we do activities together that we can both comfortably afford.

Older sibling generally knows that I’m more successful in the traditional sense, and he periodically brings up that it’s on me to fund our aging parent’s care. Otherwise, it doesn’t come up. I don’t care about any assumptions he’s making or feelings he has about my income, and I don’t adjust my behavior (eg, I spend as much on holiday gifts as I’m comfortable spending and couldn’t care less if it means I end up spending more on our family than he does). But I also don’t try to flaunt income difference. I’m just living life and (assume) he’s doing the same.

Me. One of them respects me, the other is filled with jealousy. I just live my life

Success can be measured differently, my older sister and I are extremely close and I make more money but she and I are both happily married, have children, both spiritual (she led me to Christ when things got real out there). She and her husband have a house, great used cars, daughter graduated college cum Laude, go on nice vacations even to visit me in NY area. Point is we are both successful and live within our means even though I have a higher income.

Honestly I’ve never thought about it for a second.

I’m the younger, more successful sibling. I don’t really think about it. My sister is a year older than me. She’s struggling financially and had to leave the work force to take care of a special needs child. Her husband has a blue collar job (and not one of the ones that pays 6 figures).

We’re really close. We talk almost everyday. I pick up the tab when we go places and buy my niece and nephews nice presents, but that’s really it.

I have three siblings and we are all in different fields. I am “more successful” in the fact I make the most money being in big law, but we all excel at different things (one is a nurse and literally saves lives, one is so good at networking she can’t stop getting promoted, one is a stellar mom, etc.). We’ve never been that competitive with each other and our parents never pitted us against each other.

Third of four here aswell, cheering for you (all)! :)

My sibling seems ok. My sister in law is the oldest child and horrible with money and she takes it pretty hard. She’s tough on herself about it. My husband and I are investing nerds but we try to filter ourselves around her.

Don’t you love each other? Do they not like you in the first place? Why would it be awkward? What is there to manage? How long have you known each other? So many questions.
Also, job titles and salaries aren’t forever.

Me. I’m in Big Law and married with kids, she is divorced and has been laid off/fired from 3+ jobs and is currently a freelancer. I don’t try to manage it. It’s not my job. My job is to live my own life and let her live her life.
