Highest number of billable hours you have seen in a year?

Anyone else’s firm not give billable credit for trainings? For context, we’re being required to do 3 full days of training with a 1950 billable goal as mid levels. Seems unreasonable to me, but can’t think of a polite way to say “hard pass”.

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

What do you think is a reasonable % of revenue to ask for from a billable rate? I work part time (~5 hours / week) for a company where they bill $250 and hour for mine time. I’d assume my costs as an employee are minimal. What do you think would be an appropriate hourly rate?

Is it just me or the average billable work in infrastructure transactions has blown off steam in the last couple of weeks?

Does anyone have experience working for a ALSP? How does compensation work (pay and benefits)? Are you an employee or technically an IC? Do you have billable requirements like at a firm? I have a question about mid-size Philadelphia law firms. Does anyone have any insight about what life is like (culture, pay, billable hours, cases, WFH, perks, etc.) as a junior partner/senior associate/of counsel in the litigation department at the following firms: Montgomery McCracken, Schnader Harrison, Stradley Ronon, Dilworth Paxson, Klehr Harrison?

How to deal with not being staffed on deals and seeing others in your year be staffed? When asking partners directly for work, they refer you to the staffing partners. When asking staffing partners (repeatedly), they say “thanks for interest, we will have something soon.” Weeks and weeks pass by and you’re always below where you should be for billable hours (at this point, very far below). All reviews are essentially perfect and no negative feedback. Extremely frustrating and discouraging.

16 weeks and so worried all of the stress I’m under is going to hurt the baby. I just spoke with a software architect that went back to school to learn software engineering after law school because it was more lucrative and had less hours. He’s worked his way up and has the skills and authority to work 6:30am-10am and gets to work remotely. We discussed that results/outputs is better than billable time like in law and public accounting. Yet, his parents and others would view him as “lazy” but he does his job and makes a fantastic living. Time>Money and Results>Hours
