Anyone here work at HCVT, particularly Irvine office? Please let me know how the culture of the office is - are the partners good to work with?

Client work is vast and can be exciting if you make the right decisions with the partner you team up with first. Remember, they are all out for themselves in the end, They pick solid people to delegate to and just bombard you with the best work. Unfortunately, by doing that you must delegate or pick up the slack, Which can put you in a tax preparer role at times. So be extremely tech savvy. Everyone works hard except those that actually tell you they are working hard. As the clients are happy, so goes the office. If you are a Tax Manager it is so very simple to start your own firm and gain access to solid clients depending on your strengths. Take the job if they are offering. Learn their model from start to finish and within a year you can have a seven figure firm with the right tech.

Is it bad manners or just a bad idea to go back to a recruiter if they got you a job that wound up being a bad fit?
For context, I don’t think they misled me. The job changed 3 weeks after I got hired, and got stuck in a role that’s just not a good fit. Gave it 6 months of honest effort and I’m ready to start job hunting.
I saw this recruiter make a post on LinkedIn, and I liked working with them the first time, and I want to reach out. But I don’t know what they’ll think.

I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?

London folk, question for you: do firms and offices in London not recruit candidates directly? I hardly see positions advertised on the websites of these firms but there are vacancies that they seem to recruit for through recruiters. What’s the deal here?
