Does Big D really do that to yall 😭
If you got laid off you wouldn’t responsible to pay back anything. If you got fired then yes you would.
Never understood sabbaticals because how can I take sabbaticals from bills but yea don’t worry you are all good
Sabbaticals are paid, but yeah I feel you, def need to save up and financially prepare for it. Helps if you have another stream of income to fill the gaps.
So helpful thank you!!! We get paid enough that even with the 40% pay I didn’t have to dip into much savings (maybe 1 or 2k?) for sabbatical so I did it absolutely guilt free. I think it’s the most underutilized and hands down best perk we get
I “understand“ why they laid you off. You were an expense with no benefits. They laid you off because they couldn’t legally fire you outright. At least you can still draw unemployment benefits and probably SNAP too. You’ll be okay. If you take sabbaticals, be prepared for termination, as most companies (and your coworkers) will see you as deadweight. They won’t care about your reason, no matter how noble. Jealous managers and coworkers will hate you, every day they see your empty desk, as they continue to support the company that gives you “free money.”
