I need help from an accountant or a financial analyst. I need to compare fed vs private company retirement and help me create a retirement plan. I will pay for the services. Thank you

Fed retirement is pretty straightforward, what assistance do you need?

MD1. Exactly. You may not need to pay for anything. Let’s solve this for DA. I am a fed so can help with some fed questions.

Fed retirement is a three legged stool:

1) Social Security
2) TSP (federal version of a 401k)
3) FERS (pension)

There is plenty of info on FERS all over the place. If you're looking for calculations, you can get them straight from the horse's mouth: https://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/fers-information/computation/.

You can also find tons of calculators out there for Social Security and 401k, so just smush those all together to calculate your federal retirement projections.

I’m a FA. What’s your questions? Let’s all work together on this.

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

Fully remote and looking at a bicostal lifestyle. I’ve found some nice long term furnished places, but where can I find a monthly rental for when I’m not at home base. I’ve looked at Enterprise and it’s roughly 2,000 a month for a compact. If I’m going to pay that, I’ll just lease a Urus for 18 months and save one or two hundred😂

I've been working at a government agency for 6 months, helping to stand up a new team. The job involves interacting with real estate developers. One of the developers reached out to recruit me for a similar position that will pay more than $50k my current salary. I feel guilty, especially since I'd interact with my current team on the other side. It's a hard to turn down that salary, though I feel guilty since my team is thin, and it's only been 6 months!
