I went midlaw last year and regret it. Quality of work/sophistication of matters dropped wayyyy off and so did the pay.
Me too - but wish I went to a diff boutique or a big law environment so I could still do sophisticated work and just not die every month lol
Idk if “midlaw” but went to a smaller non market paying firm in the bottom half of V100. Pay cut is significant once you’re a midlevel (expect a $50k+ cut minimum) but the expectations are also much lower.
Weekend work and evening work is never an expectation outside of closing and bonus threshold is not seen as a minimum, but as an optional goal. I don’t feel like I am expected to be “on” 24/7.
I would expect making partner is much easier than at my prior V10 where it seemed like you needed to bill insane hours to even be considered.
