We've gone Google now!
I live right on the border of Lakeview and LP, best area in the city, highly recommend it.
Lincoln Park, lakeview, and old town are the places to be imo, considering cost/location/quality. Gold Coast/river north/streeterville are closer to the loop but you pay a premium obviously.
Wait what? East of the lake?! You mean east of Ashland I guess.
D3 suggesting Michigan lol. I live in Gold Coast/streeterville. Sounds like you want less of a downtown feel if your talking Uptown, though. Surprised Wicker Park hasn't been mentioned, that's probably where I would look
Uptown can be sketch
West loop is pretty trendy too, same premium but great food / night life. Old town / buck town I hear are really nice, been there for dinners while in town
Bingo bcg1...I have bad brain
Not really one of the best neighborhoods. Why there?
Uptown? Is that close to Gold Coast? My gf lives in GC, right by the water tower. It's touristy but really nice.
Just saw a couple places there. But im really looking more at Lincoln park and lakeview heard only great things. But then again I know nothing about Chicago haha
When are you moving to Chicago? Looking for a roommate??
I grew up right around uptown/edgewater. Still definitely up and coming the further your get away from the lake. Tweets is awesome for brunch and lunch, but not a ton of cool spots. Super close to bus routes to get anywhere though and probably cheap rent. Never get unsafe there
D1 October and moving with my GF haha sorry!
I used to live in Evanston, then moved to Lakeview, and now finally bought a condo in Streeterville. Trust me, please don't move to uptown. If you want to experience real Chicago, don't stay beyond Lincoln park.
Thanks D2!!
I lived in Lincoln Square (1.5 miles west of Uptown) for 2 years and loved it. Like Lincoln Park, but cheaper, quieter, and cool German bars 🍻
Uptown is great if you like wondering "is today the day I get stabbed?" General rule of thumb: south of Addison, west of Ashland, north of cermak, and east of the lake. That's the zone
