It’s decent if you don’t have to commute into the city. If you do, say goodbye to 2.5+ hours total of traffic everyday. If you’re interested in the 75 side of town, my recommendation is to move as far south on 75 as you’re able to afford until you hit ITP (Kennesaw > Marietta > Smyrna > Vinings)
Do you prefer the prospect of having a boat and going out on allatoona/acworth and having a big yard (not always a good thing) or do you want more “fun” lively area or elite suburb. I’d say it’s a nice area in the fact the little downtown area is attractive, and you’re far enough north you can do some country shit you couldn’t do in East Cobb without someone bothering you. Have to assume you’re not commuting every day if you’re up that far though.
I love Woodstock. The commute isn’t bad if you’re good with the paying for the Peach/Express passes. It goes about halfway up 575, now.
I live here and like it! The downtown is nice, depending on location there's easy highway access, and I feel like it's easier to get around (driving to grocery store, etc.) than when I lived in Midtown. It's a good spot in between North GA nature and ATL city activities. Only thing I don't love - I'm single and in my twenties, and I don't attend church, so I feel like the cultural aspects of Atlanta aligned with my personal life a little bit more. That said, Woodstock is pretty big and there are lots of people here and plenty of things to do.
It's not bad. A little secluded. Cherokee county has respectable schools. I dnt live there personally but commute sometimes from the adjoining city in Fulton County to the outlet malls there and occasionally to try Culver's or Whattaburger.
I’ve lived here for a long time. I like it. Commutes are terrible. Lots of good restaurant and entertainment options. I live on the border with Roswell—so I like being able to do things easily in Woodstock, Roswell, Alpharetta. It’s gradually becoming more diverse. Happy to answer any questions you have.
The area itself is charming and nice but it’s far if your have to commute to ATL or the airport on a regular basis so I would strongly consider what that looks like in your equation.
If you have to commute to Atlanta, definitely do not live in Woodstock. Traffic will make life unbearable. If you’re remote it’s a great place to live.
Yeah it’s not really ‘Atlanta’ or even part of the metro fabric right now. Don’t go there for a commute, and frankly go use Chattanooga’s airport it’ll be faster.
BUT I find it to be a really charming town, and the town square area has grown a lot with really nice restaurants and a nice feel. Still feels more suburban than ‘towny’ which I dislike, but that’s just preference. It’s also affordable, and a short drive from lovely places like the blue ridge mountains.
I would recommend if that sounds good to you.
Agree with everyone above. I have lived here for two years now and I really like it but I like that it isn't near everything. I also work from home so I don't have to worry about a commute. Its a cute little area in my opinion and we love it here.
It’s great if you want to raise a family and value outdoors / quiet. Super conservative which is unfortunate for me; that’s the biggest con especially now that I’m single.
