I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I’m wondering what is the best way to approach the topic of getting on the full salary/hours. Do I wait until the bonuses are given at the end of my first year? Or bring it up at mid-year review? Anyone ever negotiate an amicable exit from a startup? The context: been working for an 8-year old unicorn startup. Been there for close to 1.5 years. The culture is terrible. The CEO is a paranoid psychopath. My role changed immediately after I accepted the offer. I was setup for complete failure. No support. Absent leadership. Zero resources to get anything done. I’m done, not worth my mental health. But don’t want to walk away with nothing. Can exits be negotiated? Is this common?
