Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Took you this long to figure it out?
Are you in an up-or-out situation? If yes, your life is going to change regardless. You just have a “default” change if you stay and you need to find another option that you like more.
If not up-or-out, maybe chill out at your current level for a while?

Hi there fellow principal 👋
Question for yourself is why is it creeping (obviously haha) ?
Do you accept too many engagements from the top? Do you spend a lot of time with your teams to coach them? Do you go the extra mile for that one more proposal?
My personal experience is that it’s one of the most flexibile jobs out there but you need to clearly set your boundaries and choose what you want to spend time on early on.
I’m on average working 50-55h per week with peaks sometimes which are mostly because I like to spend time in the trenches with my teams to develop them. I could just pilot them from “up there” and it wouldn’t change anything to my performance rating nor bonus, I just like that aspect of the job more than the rest.
Which also goes to your point of being “the last man standing”: did you start building your pyramid of people who share similar values with you?
K1 you’re a kearney principal that works 50 hours a week? Is this NA? What practice?

Idk half of my PPMD just take calls from exotic locations and rely on their teams and peers in other offerings to bring them more work
Hope the days are us over of try-hard workaholics shaming people for seeing their kids grow up.
Time to have some real priorities. If there are still people with no life outside work who want to work around the clock, great, just leave the rest of us alone.

Pretty sure you just need to live to sell. If you're working, you're doing it wrong
