Had an associate of mine recently confront me and say he has a crush on me. Told him nope and that would be very unprofessional. He has reassured me that this won’t impact our working dynamic but lately there’s been a lot of pushback on any direction given to him or the team. I’m growing concerned he is holding something against me.

How should I approach this?

Anyone witness slackers who got into companies you have no idea how? Had a coworker who does jack chit at work besides chatting on Facebook yet lands at a faang company? I guess if he brings the same work ethic he will be spit out for sure. Or maybe he just had no interest in doing project work.

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

I got sent a very unclean Excel spreadsheet. When I asked a team member to remove our company email addresses, they asked “Is control F the easiest way to do this?” 🤣🤣🤣

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?

Ok…I still don’t know what I’m doing so started a convo by accident lol. Anyway, I’m new here and just wanted to say hello. There’s power in connections and I’m here wanting to connect. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekends 😊

Let’s not have pride this year that is all about rainbow colors. Remember those who have lost their lives during the AIDS crisis, and the years they were ignored by the government and couldn’t get healthcare to save their lives. Same as what is happening today - those who are not privileged don’t have equal resources, or even access to healthcare. That’s why equality should matter for everyone. It’s not just a party, it’s to show that we’re still here and we will not give up.

Do you feel, as members of our community in advertising (a privilege we share in having a voice in media but also cultural persuasion) that you should lean into brands taking advantage of the opportunity to capitalize on our community or steer them away from that but also refocus their minds to a more long term diverse creative solution?

I am an advertising professor studying how people’s identities shape their experiences in advertising. I am interested in interviewing LGBTQ+ folks to learn whether and how your identity shapes your experiences and perspectives on advertising and the work you create and produce. Just wanted to say, as a guy in my mid-20’s, cheers to all the 30-40+ y/o LGBTQIA+ folks here—I know we roll our eyes at the performative rainbows on everything now, but you folks made this possible for the rest of us—you fought for acceptance, for our rights, and you made it through the struggle so people my age don’t have the same weight to carry, so we don’t have to be as afraid.
We have a long way to go, and I’ll carry the torch too, but I really think y’all deserve more gratitude. Happy 🏳️‍🌈
