Hi ladies! Need some advice on what to do here: For context: I live in Texas and work from home. I put in a request with my apartment to fix the ongoing air issues in my master bedroom. The maintenance guy showed up without a mask. When I asked if he could please put on a mask, he left, returned and stated that they are still waiting on masks and isn’t sure of when they’ll be getting them. (Cont. in comments)

Anyone made the jump from agency to freelance PM and can live to tell about it? I want the highs and the lows. I’ve been seriously considering it more and more, but need to know the truth about what to expect. More than anything, I want to be remote and be able to make my own schedule. Any pointers on how to get started? I’d love to do a budget exercise as well, to see how to make it all work—but I know it’s very unpredictable. Any tips/tricks are appreciated!

My favorite part about WFH is that I experience significantly less micro aggressions and/or discrimination than when I used to have to go to the office. The downside is that there will probably be less work for employment lawyers. I don’t mind making that sacrifice. It’s harder to have a hostile work environment when you don’t have to be in a work environment 5 days a week (sometimes 6). For context, I’m a POC.

For people at remote-first companies (I’m in industry, not deloitte anymore), how do you feel about optional in-person events for employees that live close to the optional office? Especially wondering about the feelings of people who chose to live in a different city, and therefore can’t attend.

COVID WFH has put me several time zones away from my client (I’m further west and their culture is to start the day early anyway). It’s a new project so I don’t have relationships built up. When did you know that you want to have a kid(s) and what helped you decide to go for it? Not a mom but want to ask people With first hand experience. My BF is sure he wants them and I did too until I did the research on cost of childcare, lifestyle changes, and most importatntly the impact on career (my BF says family stays with you but works don't.
