I'm a B4 partner, and I can tell you with certainty that they are sometimes looked at by my firm. I cannot guarantee that every single person that applies is reviewed, but I do know of situations where a person's social media was the reason they did not get offered a position. We do have social media guidelines that all staff members are supposed to follow after you are hired as well, but those are mostly about not identifying yourself as a firm employee. I would lock down anything that could be considered inflammatory, if such items exist.
Been doing this for years
Yes.
I definitely think they are looking. I had a friend whose job offer was revoked because of "problematic public image and political commentary," or something to that effect. They don't want anybody who could be perceived as a liability should they get into some sort of internet spat that goes viral and makes the org look bad.
I would not have social media profiles that have anything political. I think it’s fine if u have a cooking on TikTok or something that makes u look cool but don’t have stuff showing u doing bong rips or in the adult film industry
They are DEFINITELY looked at by the firm. I know that because I have been one of the people tasked with looking at social media of candidates before. That is definitely not just a rumor haha.
I have a secondary profile with a fake name, generic addy, and a stock photo I found online. I can say whatever I want, and no one will know that it's me. I highly recommend it.
