Are bucket lists ruining travel? It’s great to have goals, but I’ve caught myself rushing through places just to check them off instead of actually enjoying them. On a trip to Rome, I skipped the Trevi Fountain because it was packed, and honestly, I felt relieved—I spent the afternoon wandering quiet backstreets instead, and it ended up being my favorite memory. But then again, bucket lists can push us to explore things we might otherwise miss. What do you think?

I don't think they're ruining travel, but I do think people put too much emphasis on 'keeping score' rather than enjoying travel for the experience that it's supposed to be. I'd rather take 6 trips a year that I can really enjoy rather than 12 that I rush through.

Overtourismo is a real thing. But also, it’s guides giving people the most distilled experience. In China we have a term called 打卡 or punching the card, where you do somewhere just to take the photo and then leave. It leads to areas around a particular point of interest experiencing extreme pressures, but the surrounding town never experiencing any of the economic benefits of tourism.

I’d say more than anything, instagram has ruined tourism as we’ve adopted this 打卡-type tourism in the west.

I have a bucket list, but it’s more for ideas than to just check things off. And I’m always open to other things, it’s a source of inspiration, not a checklist.

Hello!
I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
Will this considered “poaching” if the consulting firm hires me? Would they need to talk to my current employer?

What is the obsession and appeal for MBB among MBA grads? Is it really that amazing - from afar it seems like it may be romanticized (maybe not the right word) among applicants. I know it’s way better than the work I do now, so I’m not knocking MBB at all. It’s super impressive. Maybe a better way to phrase it is that MBA applicants seem to have a fairy tale view of consulting as a whole. I get the impression that people think a job in consulting is a magic ticket anywhere

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!
