What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.

D1 Manhattan Lasik. They told me that I may have to get it redone in a few months (for free). I didn’t though as my vision stabilized. It was more about the shape of my eye and dry eyes that mattered. B1 dry eyes could be a reason why you are not a good candidate but most places offer free consultation. My eyes were dry months after and had to use drops. Back to normal now (but didn’t really have them to begin with).
Also higher your prescription, more expensive.
Ok I’m convinced, I’m going to do it thanks everyone
Amazing. Best investment I’ve ever made
Ah-mazing! Got it in New York. I had very poor eye sight (-11 glasses). It wasn’t cheap but they 0% interest financing which I used and I do not regret it. Dryness and starbursts wet away after a few weeks. I got it in August and I can’t imagine life without it! If you get it in New York let me know, I can recommend you!
Best money I ever spent. However, it’s not permanent. Your eyes keep changing and you may eventually need another lasik surgery to adjust for it. And you would still need reading glasses in your 40s. Still worth it.
@M2- Me too! Next thing I’m gonna ask the internet is if I should spend my 401k on a Ferrari, stay tuned
Bain1 - I was told the same thing. I use to wear contacts and now I can’t even handle them my eyes are so dry.
I just got Lasik a week ago and while I see 20/15 in bright daylight, vision is hazy at night and also during dim lights, like in dim restaurants or changing rooms. Did any of you guys have this? I really hope this goes away.
Especially because most of our work is staring at computers
Best $ I’ve ever spent
I haven’t gotten it myself but people around me all praise it. They regret not getting it sooner
Got it ten years ago. Amazing. Seeing the clock all the way across the room and not having to get out of bed to do it? Worth the price right there
I got it a few years ago.....fo free. Love it
A2, where did you go? I thought -5,6 was the limit for which lasik could remedy...
I got it about 10 years ago. My left eye is still pretty good, my right is a little worse. It was still totally worth it.
I negotiated the price down to 800 an eye.
I already have dry eyes (have trouble keeping them open during late nights and plane rides for this reason). A major concern I have is lasik might exacerbate this. Any idea if that’s true?
My entire family has had it done now and not a single regret from anyone. Best thing I ever did
Thanks for the answer!
OP- I’m Glad an online app convinced you to get major eye surgery !!
If you are female, eye sight can change during pregnancy. If you can have an agreement that they will continue to do lifetime updates it could be great!
