I suggest that you explore Coursera first. You get access to thousands of courses for an annual time.
Coursera is a platform and the courses on it are administered by universities and other entities. So I think the courses you take and the certificates are issued by the orgs/universities and not Coursera itself. So there is no such thing as a “Coursera course”. But I am new to the platform. Please let me know if anyone has more info.
No doesn’t really matter the institution you get it from. Continuing education is usually a requirement for licensed providers so it’s more like a check yes or no of complete versus validating the quality of the course
I paid $399 for an annual subscription from Coursera. I was able to get it reimbursed by my employer. I just completed a cybersecurity course on Coursera and received a certificate from the college that offered it. I think that this approach offers significantly greater value.
I just got free access for Coursera via NY state and I am not even on unemployment benefits. More info here: https://dol.ny.gov/online-learning-coursera other states might have similar programs.

Depends on what it is.
Long term, I think the micro credentials like this will be the way forward.
I would take a look at coursera or Google certificates to see if it is already offered.

I have yet to really see my PMP pay me more than my peers.
It is hard to generalize without knowing what program you are talking about. What is the certificate and how do you think it would help your career?
It's worth more when you have some knowledge about it through some experience or sites like Coursera (idk about their programs). You don't wanna learn the basics when you can be perfecting and exploring
