I’m in my third trimester now. My experience might be a little skewed though because I’ve been remote due to COVID. First trimester is def worse than second. The tiredness and nausea go away. I can’t really think of needing adjustments or accommodations outside of doctors appointments, and by then I had already informed Deloitte so when I put an appointment in the calendar, no one really wondered or cared. The worst part of the third is just the weight of the baby and feeling uncomfortable. Getting a lumbar support might be helpful or just get up here and there to stretch and get blood moving. Again can’t think of any crazy accommodations that I would personally ask for. If you’re going into the office, maybe just the understanding that you might wear sneakers in or a bit more casual clothes to stay comfortable. I think with the exception of 2 days where I felt a little under the weather, it hasn’t been hard at all to do/ maintain regular work and schedule.
It’s def harder to sleep. My suggestion is to just get your own bed if possible for those last few months. So much easier to sleep when you can toss and turn to find the perfect position and have lots of pillows to stuff under you to get comfy. But honestly so far, I’m just so tired at the end of the day that I knock out at 10 so I get plenty of sleep.
Are you going to be working remote or traveling?
You’ll be totally fine! Working remote provides tons of flexibility that you wouldn’t have while traveling or in office. Just listen to your body and don’t scheduled hours and hours of back to back meetings.
I’m halfway thru my pregnancy and finding it hard to sit for long periods of time because my back starts acting up after sitting for a while. I need to take more breaks to get up and stretch but it’s not too terrible. I also need more snack breaks bec I get full from small amounts so I need to eat more frequently.
I thought I’d make it to full term still working. Went out just after 37 weeks, and delivered at 39. My carpal tunnel was unbearable after week 35. Other than that, just prepare for never being comfortable in the last few weeks.
Everyday seems different but it was harder for me trimester 1 rather than 2nd. Haven't hit 3rd yet though
