Baby shower etiquette question. I was invited to a shower that I can’t make so I plan to send a gift. Last time I did this (same family - different mother), a relative said that someone took the trouble to wrap the gift that I had sent through the registry on my behalf. I felt like I had put someone out by not wrapping, but of course I had the gift delivered directly through the registry. Am I doing something wrong? TIA

Respectfully, the person who said that sounds like a piece of work mentioning that after you kindly sent a gift, so I wouldn’t let them get in your head.

I have sent gifts for many baby and bridal showers even if I did attend due to logistics/travel considerations. Some places offer an option to pay for gift wrapping, others don’t. If you have the option and budget it’s a nice touch, but if not I think the gesture of sending a gift ahead is thoughtful enough.

No not wrong at all. I wouldn’t have minded if something came unwrapped personally

Send it directly to the mom-to-be, and time it so it arrives shortly after the shower. She can receive it privately shortly after the shower and also appreciate it as part of the general shower experience.

When I received gifts from someone out of state for my shower specifically, my family did as this person did and wrapped them. In hindsight, because I've literally never thought of the logistics until responding here, the sender must have coordinated with my family because my registry address was my home and the shower was elsewhere.

The gifts I received that were sent to my home were largely unwrapped, unless they were off the Amazon registry.

To be honest, the people wrapping are being helpful and trying to tie the experience together, but it's not necessary. To avoid the issues, I'd do as someone above suggested and try and time delivery to be within a day or two of the shower.

I'm on my second baby and didn't care if the gift shipped to me was wrapped.

You are not doing anything wrong. That’s how most registries work now. At least where I am, it’s pretty uncommon and seems a bit old fashioned to open presents at the shower. And wherever you are, it seems pretty rude to accept a gift with anything other than thanks.

I have a CD that gets extremely flustered when you ask them for their opinion on a solution. For example after showing them multiple color pallets and CD not quite liking any of them (real Goldie locks moment) i suggested why not we do (fill in three colors here), the CD freezes up and gets annoyed because they don’t want to say yes or no without seeing it in front of them. Working on tight turn arounds and a cd who is too busy for meetings it proving tough with remote working. Any tips?

Thoughts on leaving PA primarily due to the metrics based culture (utilization, dtc, use of X digital tool, revenue, margin, etc). I find this aspect of PA stressful and exhausting but not sure if this is something you just get used to. Currently a manager and seems like the metrics just change over time / don’t get easier.

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations.
