Being a long-time legal assistant/paralegal/whatever fits the bill, is anyone noticing firms with constant revolving doors while they pass up on candidates who would be fine employees if given the chance?

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

I’ve been getting into a healthier routine and make a meal replacement smoothie every morning. I bought a bunch of palisade peaches from a stand and chopped some up and froze them.

Mixed them up today with some OJ, Fairlife milk, unflavored protein powder, spinach, hemp seeds and chia seeds. Best smoothie yet!

Benefits Question: how is the health insurance where you are? How does your employer handle it?

This has become one of the most important things when interviewing for me. My last employer went from having no insurance option to giving us one terrible plan that they contributed 50% towards. My current employer works with Gravie so we get so much per month and can use it towards any plan on the marketplace. Only thing that sucks is the contributions are post-tax so it counts as income.

Are there any firms with remote or hybrid LAA positions? Even if it’s short term, that’s ok.
Currently I am a LAA in a personal injury law firm for a year now, and I want to get more experience in others law fields. Thanks!

Ratios of Admins to Attys at your big law? My firm has first through fourth year associates using a pool system and assigns 5th years and up to an admin. Each admin has 7-9 attys. Word on the street is ratios may increase. Trying to get centralized billing so admins do less. Meanwhile they can’t seem to keep our billing folks from leaving. It’s been a crazy year and lots of disappointing moves.

Please share whether or not your firm is offering hybrid work arrangements to support staff.

Hi all. I'm new here, still trying to figure things out. 17 years experience in litigation insurance defense in various practices areas seeking preferably a remote position, but open to hybrid in ATL.

Big law raise percentages for LAAs in 2022? Mine was 4%. I have no idea of the range being given this year within my firm, but my personal raise was better this year than last year.
