What has worked well for me:
Earbuds - AirPods; Great with Apple ecosystem, switches devices seamlessly, quick charge and great case, decent active noise cancellation and okay for calls
Headphones - Bose NC 700; favorite feature is the mic actively cancels out background sound. Take calls in the middle of a loud Starbucks people can’t even tell (and even more impressed if I answer before I turn the headphones on). What I don’t like is the form factor. Doesn’t fold up so it takes up a bit of space in your bag.
I have the 700s. They are pretty nice and I agree with your points. I would rather have the Apple headphones though as the pads are way better for ling term comfort. I suppose the 700 pads are better for noise cancellation.
I have had
AirPods Max - best transparency, great special sound, mic wasn’t as good as bose 700. Ear pads get stinky from sweat, too heavy for weekly travel, looking to buy the 2024 model if it has h2 and u2 chips
Bose 700 - good headphones, but dated, I wouldn’t upgrade to qc ultra if you have these. I wish these folded up smaller.
Bose qc ultra - use for work, light weight don’t hurt my head and great for long use. These are my daily driver.
B&W px8 - great headset, but transparency isn’t as good as qc ultra, love the buttons. Use this for my personal laptop and iPad. Music sounds great on these.
Sony wm 5 - causes ears to sweat. Sound was good, bose qc ultra was better for the length of time I am on calls. The wm4 were better except for transparenrcy mode even if they were “rickety”. Returned this for the the qc ultra. Transparency was great on it, but didn’t like the memory foam in ear cups due to sweating.
Sony.
I’d like to hijack this thread and ask for best wireless earbuds that connect to windows OS and can be used for teams/hangouts/zoom.
If you go the headphone route, an over the ear cup design means that your wars are not being pressed on by the headphones. This is a major comfort boost, especially if you spend more than a few hours each day in calls. I use Steel Series Artic 7 wireless headphones, have a very long battery capacity, and can be used while they are recharging, though you are effectively tethered to your USB charging cable while doing that. Also, they have a mute button on them, which is very handy if you move away from your PC while on calls. They have newer models which support Bluetooth based integration and swappable batteries to allow extended use. I have had days where I basically wear my headset for nearly my entire shift due to the number of meetings I'm in. I also have Samsung Galaxy Bud Pros, but find that if worn too long cause my ear canal to get itchy.
Both… depends on the need in any given day
Sony has been killing it the past few years with headphones specifically the WH and WF models. Have both they are great
I bought the 1More Sonoflow headphones mostly for travel. They are great on the plane, but I recently took a teams call while walking through Atlanta Hartsfield and I was impressed. At home I take calls from a speakerphone though.
Depending on your needs, Bose NC 700, like above is great and comfortable, Sonys MX-4/5 (or whatever # they’re on now) is also great.
Dark horse pick, but if you’re deep into the Apple ecosystem, the AirPods Max is great, but overpriced, not ideal to travel with, noise cancelling is a bit worse than Bose or Sony, but the ambient noise and mics are amazing, and arguably better than those 2, I can wear these all day, and I love the seamless integration between Apple products. The others, I need to take off after a few hours due to the pressure on my head. Bose & Sony does have more comfortable ear cups though.
I’ve been happy with these: Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHVBNPT1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Airpods or similar bluetooth earpieces (if on android) for walking around/commuting on foot, bose 700 for air travel, and Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signatures for desk work. I’ve owned dozens of headphones over the last 30 years and this combo is what i’ve settled on.
I love my taotronics earbuds I bought on Amazon. The battery life is amazing and I don't have to charge it often. The sound is great and they are inexpensive, I believe right under $50.
Not enough information to answer - best can be both subjective and objective depending on a variety of factors, such as the listeners ear size and shape, the type of devices being used, how often the user wants to recharge batteries, and the type of use. More information is required to provide an efficient answer.
Jabra buds - every time. Beats BOSE and AirPods by miles.
AirPods Pro 2. Tested against Apple AirPods Max on the airplane - almost no difference. No I just taking Pro 2 with me.
