OnCloud. Life changing
Love my OnCloud shoes. Have been wearing them for 2-3 years, ran a marathon and a bunch of half marathons in them. My favorite feature is that they’re super lightweight and don’t have a huge heel.
Brooks Ghost line, usually not too expensive too
I ran 2000 miles in 3 years with ghost 11, still feels great!
You probably want to research your running style first (pronation vs supination). All companies make shoes to cater to different running styles and prevent injury. I’d look that up and/or visit a local running store to get advice.
With that being said, Asics GT-2000 or Mizuno wave inspire have both been good to me personally, around $90-100.

I ditto this. Get fit at a local running store. So many variables. I run in Altra Torin’s - a sorta maximalist shoe [the opposite of the whole minimalist movement]
The GT in the Asics above literally stands for “Go To” - it’s that popular
Can’t go wrong with the Pegasus line from Nike, solid all around shoe that looks great as well. Wouldn’t recommend if you have wide feet, however.
@consultant 2, I’m on my second pair of Pegasus 36 and my first pair of 37s. I retired my first pair of the 36s at 500 miles and the second pair is at about 250. My 37s are at about 125 and still feel new. However for Pegasus turbo 2s i have heard stories about the sole coming off.

On. Amazing shoes...the whole line.

There are stores you can go to where you jog on a treadmill and they can look at your gait and recommend which brands and shoes work best for you.
I did that and was recommended a Brooks shoe. Never had Brooks prior to this, and they’re the comfiest running shoe I’ve ever had now.
Any luck doing this in COVID times?
Brooks Levitate line are amazing.

I wear new balance 1080. They get pretty good reviews.
Nike airvapor Max
Go to a store that specializes in running and try as many pairs as they have. I started with Brooks, then used Asics and now I'm running with Saucony Guide.

Bro if youre a beginner it really doesn’t matter. Just get some nikes and start running. The runner specific shoes are only for very serious people/advanced runners imo. If you’re just starting out, you’re not gonna be running long enough for shoe type to matter.
What’s really important is you just getting out there and doing it.

If you’re new, get maximum cushion shoes. Hoka Bondi, new balance 1080, Saucony Triumph 18, etc.
