They are testing 40k people. That's pretty damn good. I will take it, as will my whole family.
I’ll give it a few months at least. This is how all zombie movies and books begin, just saying.

I worked ten years with CDC. I’ll take the vaccine when it’s available to us- they and FDA won’t let an unsafe vaccine out.
Rising Star
After watching” bleeding edge” on Netflix, you cannot blindly trust the FDA (or CDC).
I am pro vaccine and will someday take this one... but not right away. While the results are promising I’d feel better with at least a year to see if the test subjects suffer any long term effects. I hope I don’t get hated on for this position. I just cant risk it.
And I pray that in five years there are not lawyers on late night TV espousing “Did you receive the Covid-19 vaccine in 2021? Did you get diagnosed with <insert awful malady here>? Call our law office today to get the settlement you deserve. 🎶Call two two two twenty two twenty two🎶”

I agree
It wouldn’t have mattered to me which president came up with it... I’m healthy, my wife is healthy, and we have no kids.... I’m fine with waiting until after I know if there’s side effects. Like not getting the first batch of a new cell phone. Always bugs.
But I’m just superstitious.

I am also reluctant to take this vaccine during its initial release. Far too often we’ve seen vaccines and medicines result in side effects far worse than the disease. There’s a possibility that one could take it and still contract the virus (early indications suggest that the odds are low, but It’s possible). My sense is we need more data. Fortunately the distribution of the vaccine will provide that. I hope that there are no long-term, significant side effects for anyone who decides to try it out.
I am no expert at anything but with a sample of 40k people and 90% efficacy, I would definitely take the vaccine, assumed it was developed by an American company (and by companies and certain other countries). No offense to anyone here, just my thoughts.
I’m no expert at anything
It’s 10 years a lot because pharma companies want to prove each step works before they invest increasing millions. Right now everyone is throwing money at it without waiting which is speeding the hell out of it
There are no shortcuts being done. Studies are double blind, following the same process as previous vaccines (just fast tracked). Some of the biomedical tech is new but extensive testing helps ensure it’s safe. Statistically, IMO, it’s not that much riskier than other vaccines. I’m not willing to wait years for a traditional process with the looming threats of economic instability, lockdowns and social unrest.
I will line up to get it like it’s a ps5 on Black Friday. Encourage others to as well.
Same! Treating this thing like the hottest new release of all time. The sooner we all take whatever vaccines are ultimately approved the better it’ll be for everyone.
It’s important to remember that this isn’t a new vaccine that they just started developing this year. Pharma companies have been working on a coronavirus vaccine for years. It’s been slow because coronavirus vaccines don’t get much funding so it was difficult to do large tests and iterate.
The research has been in progress for decades. We just finally have the funding and manpower to make it. They just need time to formulate one specifically for COVID-19.
Also from a business perspective I doubt any pharma company is ready to release a vaccine if there’s a chance it will cause serious harm. That kind of negative PR will bankrupt a company overnight. I don’t think they’ll take this lightly.
Probably safe, but I'll wait to take it.

Yes this is the rhetoric that the people need to hear
My dad has a super rare disease and was in a drug trial with 20 people and the drug was FDA approved after this trial.. 40k people were in this trial, I think you’ll be alright.
Unless you’re a frontline worker it’ll take a while before you can get it anyway.
I think it’ll be a while before this is even approved tbh even with “fast tracking”
I'm curious how the trial accounted for general preventative measures like mask wearing if they are trying to measure efficacy
