Broad question, if you had to pick between your dream Job and your dream city experience, which would you pick? Both carry risks, dream job has high risk and reward, dream city would delay the dream job by 5+ years and tougher to achieve

Dream job for me! Dream city I could seek internal mobility a few years down the line

like

I'd take the dream job. If the risk pays off in a major way, you'll have the money to move to that dream city somewhere down the road. And even if it doesn't, it's not like the city is going to disappear, which can't be said about the dream job.

like

I’d go dream city, which wouldn’t even be a big city at this point. I would rather live somewhere I want to be at this point in life.

like

Adding to my original post, dream job is only available in current city, which not a fan of but many are, timeline of going to dream city was now to next 3-4 years, improved social atmosphere vs unknown job quality.

like

I would take the dream job. The city doesn't matter as much to me as what I am doing every single day. I have yet to find my dream job.

Dream city. Jobs come and go easily and can change based on who is hired, a new manager etc.

Do tech companies like FAANG hire strategy consultants? Starting at an MBB/T2 next year and curious if tech companies leverage consultants as much as other industries. Part of me wonders if they are in such high growth right now that consultants can’t add as much value, thus maybe a smaller presence. Thoughts?

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?

There is this big bank where I'd love to work at, and after several interviews for various positions they end up promoting someone from within, even thou I understand it and think it’s good they promote their people, it left me feeling like I'm just being used to comply with the process.

Does anyone here work at Ameriprise financial? If so, would you recommend it? What is the work life balance like? I have an interview for a Advisory trading specialist role. Thanks!

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].
