Been to Prague many times and just came back from Budapest. Think they have some similarities overall, where Prague is probably more popular ATM. Budapest allegedly has (one of) the best Christmas markets in Europe and it opens early in mid November. I found Budapest one of the more picturesque and fun places in Europe, food was also unexpectedly good, which I’ve never found Prague to live up to. (But they do have one of my favorite restaurants in the world, I’ve been to 4 times over a decade). Overall, you can’t go wrong, just depends what you’re looking for, as both places are cheaper than their Western European counterparts

This is the place, it’s not fancy, but (and it’s been a good amount of years) for a burger and beer it was like $12, and I kid you not, best burger I’ve ever had. Even my buddy who doesn’t like burgers wanted to go back. In 60+ countries I’ve been, it’s like one of two I’ve left a review for.

Both are great cities. If you can only do one, I’d go with Prague.
Both are awesome! Whichever you don't go to this time around hopefully you can visit next time. Truly beautiful cities and excellent bang for your buck.
You can’t go wrong. I’m jealous
I liked Prauge more than Budapest
Prague for me. Stunning, lovely people and just a bit more buzz. But Budapest gorgeous too
Strasbourg, Vienna or Prague for the Christmas Markets. Have only been to Budapest in the summer, so can’t speak to that.
Been to both. Would pick Prague in a heartbeat but can’t go wrong
