Can anyone share their morning routine to maximize productivity? I struggle with waking up early and sticking to a routine and often find myself playing catch up throughout the day.

For the past couple weeks I been going to the gym so when I get to the office I feel more awake at generally more clear minded. I listen to a podcast on my way to work for news or self improvement or entertainment. Then at work I check my calendar and see what tasks I got coming up or are due. Then I usually pick one that will take most of the morning then after lunch I do smaller tasks and address emails etc. It helps generate solid billing and stay ahead of deadlines.

Depends on what you’re into. I mostly listen to the various shows on the drinkin bro’s network. Occasionally Joe Rogan but usually his episodes take my whole morning commute and evening commute for a couple days.
If you’re religious I just started one that’s the Bible in a year from genesis to revelation. I’m not particularly religious but the discussion is kinda interesting and whether you believe it or not I think it’s a good idea to read/ listen to the whole thing.

I kind of love the flexibility to have slow mornings sometimes (when work is slow and I have a wfh day). To me that’s one of the benefits of hybrid life. So I say, lean in!😅

At the beginning of each day, I make a to do list, prioritizing urgent tasks first.

I’m currently at a studio that has been good to me. They took a chance and allowed me to change career paths. They gave me numerous opportunities that lead me to now, being the head of a department. The big guys at the top has expressed they could see me as the guy to run the company one day but it’s all talk and possibilities right now. I’ll have to wait for now. On the other hand, I have an offer in hand from a much bigger company to be part of their business development. Any advice?

I’m 4 rounds into the interview process for an Assistant Controller position in SoCal.

For the next round, I’ll be meeting with the Controller, Accounting Manager, and 5 other junior accounting staff.

I’ll have 30 minutes to explain a month-end close task (of my choice) to the accounting team.

Also, I’ll have to analyze a random reconciliation and explain improvements that can be made.

I’m just a 2nd year manager, so I’m getting so nervous, and any insight or tips would be appreciated!

I’ve recently left my job (unhappy with it) and am applying for new work. I have a few irons in the fire at the moment. I’m curious about a trend I am seeing: I like to think I’ve well documented my abilities and functions in my CV, as well as my portfolio. I’ve noticed that for some of these jobs that I can check every single box in the job description, I won’t even get an interview. I’m wondering if many of these jobs are posted for internal hires, but some stay open for weeks. What gives?

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.
