Don’t know until you try it out. Leave an open door and be direct that you honestly could see yourself returning to their company, leave on good terms. I’ve successfully done that with three houses over the past 7yrs, each career upgrade ended up being too good to return to the previous however. Still keep in touch with members of past houses and love them each dearly to this day.
What's the new offer look like? If it's a significant improvement over your current comp, and/or a major step up in terms of title, then it might be worth pursuing. Like D1 said, leave the door open but let your current employer know that you've received an offer you simply cannot pass up, but that you'd be interested in the possibility of a boomerang if the circumstances align in the future. Good luck!
Do what is best for yu.
I would be upfront with your current employer and be open for change. Be honest with them since they gave you the opportunity, dont try to hide things because that is not going to end well. Just try to see what the other company has to offer and if they are in line with your goals. good luck!
Leave your options open. You already said that your current position doesn't guarantee anything. You should give it a try.
