There isn’t a whole lot to say about that. It was incredibly unprofessional and they should have known better. Group interviews are ok for entry level positions and for when they are hiring for more than one position. But not at an executive level. If not hired, a nice professional letter to the CHRE should be done. If hired, change the practice.
I had the same recently, for a part time role.
3 interviewers, frantically typing away whilst I answered competency based questions.
Personally, I think the interview process is broken or over engineered by many organizations. The trend seems to be more about having as many steps in place to mitigate any risk in the decision made, and usually at the candidates expense.
My cynicism feels as thought applicants are 'used' to gain external insights or ideas for the hiring company - a day interviewing is generally cheaper than hiring consultants or contractors.

The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to see how all of the candidates responded to the pressure? I haven't come across group interviews often especially where you are interviewing in front of multiple candidates. I wonder if this company is still in the past and not up with current technology and up-to-date best hiring practices.

I would have been thrown too. A group interview at that level feels less like assessment and more like unnecessary theatre. It tells me more about the company than about my own fit. I think you were right to question the process.

Eek I’ve never experienced this and I hope I don’t, that must feel very strange and possibly intimidating.
Sometimes companies roll differently. If that’s their culture, you have to decide if you want to join it.
