Considering transitioning from PwC to RSM, has anyone had this experience? How is it? Same thing, different letters?

Came from B4 a few years ago. Loved RSM and couldn’t believe my luck in landing such a great job. Planned to finish my career here. Watched RSM slowly morph into B4 without the comp and benefits. Brian has run this into the ground and we are hemorrhaging clients. We like B4 are forced to use USI but the teams at USI are at best ignorant and at worst incompetent. I hate it here now. I am planning my exit strategy.

Slowly transitioning into a B4 mindset without the B4 comp. Totally killing the culture many of us came here for.

This.

My goodness… I’m so glad I asked, thank you. I was hoping for something less stressful and more relaxed but if it’s the same, might just stick with the monster I know

like

Its not the same. RSM is significantly worse

like

RSM employee. You're not getting a reprieve from anything by switching out from PwC. Used to be better here.

like

I did but I changed service lines. Audit -> TAS.

PwC is a better firm, I’m still thankful to have made the jump as the work is much better.

like

Very difficult to use the bathroom of the other firm once you transition , some people get all upset

likehelpfulfunny

I came from RSM, it’s definitely not the same. Smaller clients, worse training, and my local office was strangely too involved in each others lives lol. The grass is probably not gonna be greener as far as public accounting goes

like

Rsm is a hellhole right now. I cant discourage you enough. Any firm is better. Don't do it.

like

Not even close. What group are you in? Can’t really answer without knowing that. But having spent decades in a B4, it was a significant difference joining the firm.

At the start I noticed the firm was much nicer and definitely didn’t work people as hard. Those were big positives. Then leadership changed and the local office approach went away with the capability structure. Those are negatives. Then the ERP change has been poor and morale has tanked.

RSM is still a good place but it’s very different then what it was five years back

like

This is exactly it. I went from pwc to rsm 5 years ago. Its a nicer environment, but the gap on that has closed over the past few years and not sure its worth the pay difference anymore

If you’re moving to the same service line, you’re just shooting yourself in the foot.

like

I did it a few years ago, which practice?

Are you changing lines of service or same area

PwC doesn’t want RSMs best client
Smaller fees = more time pressure

I recently joined citi. I have been given choice for to select superannuation as 13% of BS or 12500/- monthly or zero.

This is one time selection and not reversible.

I am already investing 1.5 lakh in 80C through SIP and EPF.

I need more detail about superannuation and is it beneficial or not?

Also is there any retirement age in IT field 🤔 (or in citi)?

One of my senior managers is a boomerang and told me she was laid off when she was 7 months pregnant about 10 years ago. I think she was a senior or manager. She was in a specific group and everybody was laid off. It wasn’t performance based.
