Usually if I’m moving from a consultant to a senior consultant. How much is the jump in salary?

I have a final round interview for a job I’m extremely excited for tomorrow. I have been at my current job since July (unicorn startup). I also have been on medical leave for about a month and a half due to surgery. My current job is also just not quite the right fit for me. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself but if I get the job, I’m a little worried about how it would come across to my current one. This isn’t a place I care about burning bridges too much but still it isn’t great.

Will taking a few weeks of medical leave negatively affect my performance review? I have a medical condition that requires about 2-3 weeks of treatment. I can get a doctor’s note but I have a strong feeling that my boss wouldn’t be happy if I take a few weeks off now because everyone is so busy right now. When I brought it up last time, my boss said something that implied I was opting out of the team’s busy work. My symptoms are getting worse but should I just tough it out and wait?

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?
