Currently on website time at my firm, which runs out at the end of this month. Finally got a lateral offer but now of course I'm worried about conflicts taking forever. Should I ask my current (former?) firm for an extension of the website time -- do you think they'd say yes? I'm also terrified of conflicts not working out... how often does that happen? I honestly feel like I won't be able to breathe until I'm sitting in my new office looking at my first paycheck.

You got an offer. Relax. Your firm will often extend website time for this very reason.

like

Most firms provide an extension (mine did more than once), definitely ask.

likehelpful

It’s very unusual for conflicts to hold up an associate. Just shoot your firm an email and tell them you have an offer so would they extend website time for a month while you get through conflicts. There’s no reason for them to say no. Congrats!

like

Tell them to extend website time as you are going through conflicts check. Do it ASAP before your profile is automatically removed. Should not be a big deal at that stage but some people notice.

like

This is such a niche situation that IF anyone even noticed that your website profile was down during the conflicts phase it’s easily explainable. You’re leaving the firm!

Happened to someone i know of, but right at the offer stage. Turned out to be a blessing as they later moved unto a better offer.

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. It was such a beautiful relationship but ultimately he just didn’t love me. I love him so much. My mind knows that I deserve reciprocal love and I’m worthy, but I feel physically ill. My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

Yesterday, we officially released the first version of Critter, a new app for iOS & Android geared toward pet owners/people who help take care of your pets. The basic idea is to make it simple to manage and share pet care with a mobile platform for tracking and communicating care updates.

It’s simple: add your pets. Invite people who help with their care (family, friends, professionals). Build a care plan. Track and share updates/pics/docs/etc.

I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? And FWIW I went to HYS and I’ve had a clerkship so it’s not like I’m not smart
