Hi Fishes,
I had HR discussion with EXL Service for data science role. They are offering me:
Fixed - 18.5lpa(15 base ctc+ 3.5 practice premium)
Variable - 1.5lpa
JB-4L
I tried to convince them to increase in fixed and can reduce the jb part, but hr told leadership is not agreeing to increase the fixed part. Rather they increase jb from 3.5 to 4L. What should I do? Please suggest.
Overall exp - 4.5yrs, current offer from top product based is 18.05lpa fixed + 1.5variable with 1.5jb.
Pennsylvania, you're killing me.

Not to that level. We have referrals, but that is just a small number of people. Do you ever feel like it limits the perspectives or diversity in a sense? That being said, I can see the advantage of common ground and all knowing each other.
I'm glad that was working out so well for you, because I have to say I'm a bit surprised that it is. I would have assumed a situation like that would have resulted in non stop drama from personal relationships crossing into the workplace.
I used to work for a fairly small company where a lot of the employees had a history going back, they had known each other at college or other jobs. A lot of them had worked at the same startup at some point. It worked out harmoniously for the most part, but at times I felt like there were some old grudges that were just below the surface. When I moved to a larger company the atmosphere was quite different, and I preferred that. It felt like everything was in the present, if that makes sense.
As long as everyone's good at their job, it sounds like a good company to work for. Our estimater was employed cos he was going out with one of the directors daughters. They put him through college and uni. Now their married amd he has a great career.
Yes, I have worked in a place like that. It feels tight-knit and comfortable, but it can also slip into cliquey and closed off. Great for trust, not so great for diversity of ideas or fresh perspectives.
