Did any of you get to ask for more or get paid more for making it to the store on these crazy snow days? To be honest, I'd even just take a word of thanks or appreciation, but when it's treated like it's a non-negotiable, it just feels inhumane.

You’re not wrong to want some acknowledgment. Even a genuine “thanks for braving the weather” or a free meal would go a long way. I’d quietly bring it up with leadership as a morale issue, not a complaint, sometimes they just don’t realize how it lands.

I wasn't in this storm, thankfully, but I have made my way into work during other extreme weather events. As I recall, people did acknowledge it, but as everyone was more or less in the same situation it wasn't such a big deal. The weather was awful, we showed up, and we were told "good work" or whatever. It wasn't that big a deal.

If your leadership is not acknowledging things like this, they are poor leaders!

Nope, I for sure didn’t get paid more but the weather in my state wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been. My supervisor didn’t want us to be on the road at all so we did a double shift last week. I feel bad for anyone that had to work in this weather conditions.

Totally get that. A simple thank you would go a long way, honestly. Getting there in that weather feels like a superhuman effort sometimes!

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?
