I see several posts from people asking how they can help during these times with a few extra $$$ to spend. Here is just one of many ideas.

#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

I love this and would supportive of it happening here. I would not be necessary if parents would parent, but since they don’t these kinds of bans are needed to support the mental and emotional well being of the next generation.
It's definitely a complex issue. On one hand, I understand the concerns about the impact of social media on young minds – the pressure to conform, the spread of misinformation, and the potential for cyberbullying. But you're right, it could also limit valuable online learning experiences, like connecting with peers on collaborative projects or accessing educational resources. I think it's a good first step, but we need to find a balance that protects kids while still allowing them to benefit from the digital world.

I would love to see it be at least 14 years old. I just think kids younger than that are too immature to handle the feelings, emotional contagion, and social comparison on social media

I believe that so much of the problems that students deal with are from things they see and hear on social media. I think it would be something impossible to regulate, though.
I would love it, but it would be hard to enforce. I used (recently retired) my computer for everything except teaching. My grades, quizzes, tests, saved ed videos, music, etc is all on there. I would feel like a hypocrite saying they couldn’t use their technology when I use my own.
I did see the story out of Australia. And I love the idea of it because let’s face it online bullying and all the crap kids are exposed to on social media is just too much for the young minds and they’re not processing it well as a whole. However, kids are pretty resourceful. It wouldn’t be all that hard to get around such a block so I have no idea how Australia’s going to enforce such a thing because I mean, just have to enter a birthday that makes you slightly older. It’s not you know rocket science
