What do you like to do? If that's not something you can spin into a thing that people are willing to pay for, then you have to find work that you can at least live with and grind it out while finding meaning and satisfaction elsewhere in your life.
Bonus if the job you can live with becomes something you enjoy, or at least can take pride in, when you get good at it.
And to actually answer the question, many years ago I failed to get any traction in the career that I love and I still see as my calling. I ended up working in accounting to keep food on the table. I stay because I make decent money and can provide for my family doing something I can stand to wake up and do every day. I look forward to the time when my kids are grown and my wife is back in the workforce. I'll definitely be giving my life's calling another go, and I hope it works out on the second try.
I like the work itself but the stress during peak season is killing it
I find that every tax season I ask myself why in the world did I choose this? I live frugally and invest all my income, hoping one day I can get the hell out of here! I can’t imagine working in public accounting after 50.
I mean… it’s called work for a reason. I wouldn’t say I “really like” my job but I’m good at it, it pays well, and I have enough flexibility to be able to spend the rest of my time doing things I do really like. I also wouldn’t say I don’t like my job, so maybe I’m not the person your question is directed at.
na it blows
I like being good at my job and helping my teammates accomplish their goals. Lucky to have the opportunity to do that
