If they are a private entity, who pays for the servers and equipment, they they should have the 'right' to curate the content on your site as they see fit.
THAT SAID, private companies and individuals can - and should - be held liable if they allow content that is dangerous. They cannot say, "we have the right to allow any content" and then, when someone "doxes" or makes threats, say, "it was out of our control."
I'm typically against gratuitous regulation, but I do think there should be some kind of oversight in place for social media. I'm not sure what that necessarily looks like; it just seems important given all the AI generated content and deep fakes. I think a lot of steps have already been taken to combat misinformation (e.g. flagging misleading posts), I'm just not sure if this is sufficient.
I'm somewhere in the middle. I can't imagine the world where there's absolutely no oversight. That seems really doomed to fail. However, I think there's too much censoring going on on pretty much every platform. There has to be a middle ground, and we have not found it in my opinion.
