Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti

Talk to your project about billing more and forecast appropriately to make sure you're hitting your target. I left the firm but back when I was there I believe billing 45/wk to a client or adjusted charge code meant you could still take 5 weeks off (including mandatory holidays, sick, PTO, etc.) You may have to bill a smidge more than 45/wk throughout the year (find a PT project, firm initiative with adjusted util) to bolster yourself against the mandatory days off (if you're Fed, keep in mind you may want to keep a buffer for potential Govt shutdowns) but overall you should be able to do it. Also stay visible and guzzle that Kool Aid- you'll be fine

It's not a joke getting an early promo and while the official answer will be no it won't hurt the fact is you should be using that time to get on pursuits and other firm initiatives to make your case stronger. Your counselor and pm can back you all they want but the committee has to agree that you stand out from the crowd. That's my opinion atleast. 2 weeks would've still be fine, but 4 weeks in a year you're pushing for early promo? Risky
Which practice are you in? All depends...
How much will your utilization dip if you take 4 weeks off?
BTW, which service line are you in that let's your take 4 weeks off?
