Most sweatshop agencies?
Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

A good cause helps agencies win awards, for sure. But FCB doesn’t have the Down Syndrome account anymore. FCB stopped working with them after the clients changed and it had become too hard to produce award-winning work on the account. Now they are winning awards with sick kids. Will their SickKids work help sick kids? Some of it will. Would they do work for SickKids if it had no chance at awards? Definitely not.
Absolutely. It’s most likely why majority of the post production houses on the Sick Kids spot aren’t Canadian.
Of course they are. But the work is still solid… even if it has 0 world impact.
Would FCB Toronto even win awards if they lost the “easy” Down Syndrome account?
Everything agency wants to “own” some social cause for awards fodder. It’s not so much that it’s “easy” as it is good ol’ cynical, proverbial ambulance chasing. It was pretty funny when a few years back Diamond and some other shop I can’t recall were both trying to be like the human trafficking agency. Not enough causes to go around these days.
They win awards on BMO
Everyone does.
