Do you prefer to work independently or as a team? I tend to get frustrated with others and probably need to work on having more patience.

Accepting that you need to make some adjustments is a huge first step into growth. I recommend getting a mentor. Someone you look up to and that is not in your reporting structure. It could be outside of your organization too. This needs to be someone whom you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts with. I assure you they went through the same journey you are and will have great insights to guide you in the right direction.
All the best!

I second this, at my job we're supposed to be open with our 'career manager' (CM) but given they're our direct subordinate it's hard being fully transparent when they sign off on your timesheets. My coworker who is the same level as my CM is much easier to talk to on the other hand, and only has had a net positive impact on my performance

I work both ways, some projects independently and some in a team. When I work with teams, I always start with expectations. What they can expect from me and what I will expect from them. And I will also discuss “escalation paths”. If I don’t respond to them (in a timely manner), who can they go tell to kick my a$$; and if they don’t respond to me, who I can go tell to kick their a$$.

Hi All- I’d love to hear from the community what the focus areas are for Tier 2 firms in the region Are there certain sectors the various firms specialize/ focus on? It seems like everyone focuses on public sector and tmt. Currently interviewing at a few and would be great to get some feedback. Thanks!

Frankly just seeking a little validation that I am not the only crazy person out there 🙃

How do I get a job as a Mechanical Engineer if I dont have experience?

I couldn’t get an internship while in school. I have a BS in ME and projects from school under my belt. I’ve also passed the FE exam. I’ve been mostly just doing CAD for a company for the last year by creating minimally dimensioned drawings and moving parts around in assemblies. I want to evolve in my career and be doing more. I worked so hard to earn my degree and I feel like I’m not even using it. But who will hire me?
