Do you respond to late night email request sent from clients on a Sunday? Is that madness or is it the norm?

I don't read my email over the weekend

like

If I need to get the email out of my head, I'll write it and schedule send for Monday morning.

like

THIS is the only way it should be done. Unless there’s a crisis at hand, there’s really nothing that should need to be sent over the weekend. Period.

I send out emails late nights and weekends but I don’t expect a response. I don’t expect others to be working during the times that are convenient for me

like

Or do delayed send. I do this a ton.

Should not be your decision as a midlevel AD

like

Wait for the account team or your boss to reach out to you before you start working. It’s their job to handle that situation appropriately

Nope. Set the boundary. They may be emailing because that's what works for them, but Sunday night is my night. I don't get paid to respond to client emails on the weekends.

like

For the thousandth time on this App… just because someone emails you on the weekend, does not mean they expect an answer. If it was truly important and urgent, they will let you know and get a hold of you. People work when it’s convenient for them

helpful

I never respond to emails on weekends. That’s what Mondays are for.

like

Even if I read the email, (& I promised myself I’d be better about not reading these right away), i do not reply until Monday. There’s no reason to create bad habits/give people the impression I’m available 24/7. Eventually they expect I will be, is what I’ve learned so I try to resist.

like

People do this to get a head start on Monday

Honestly, yes, and doing so has paid off for my career in pretty major ways.

Respond Monday during business hours. I try to have pretty hard cutoffs for the weekend and late night when possible to keep my sanity. Most clients are understanding of that, and if they aren’t it might be time for a discussion with your leadership so it can be addressed.

No. It would have to be extraordinary circumstances.

Sometimes I do

Yep. You climb off your partner and get to work.

Nope. They’ll live until Monday. And if i feel like responding Boomerang isn’t sending it until Monday AM

Nope, never (TLDR)

I try not to, however it depends on the project at hand. Sometime it save me the insanity at the beginning of the week!

I just accepted an offer in writing. The new job will start the background check next which I’ve been told it may take a while to complete. My start date at the new job isn’t until 2023 so there is some time for me to turn in my notice. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

All I want from an Account person is some kind of acknowledgement that what you’re asking me to do sucks. What would be GREAT is if you said “I tried to make it suck less. I told them _____, but they said ____.” Then we’d know you tried. But failing that, just “Hey sorry, this is lame, but they want ____.” We just want to feel like you’re on our side.

I've seen quite a few people make jokes about being "aged out" of advertising. Could someone please explain what that looks like and when that typically happens? Forgive the dumb question, I'm a newbie to the industry so I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't agencies want people with more experience?

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't?
