Each program is different. Ad Age and Campaign US are pay to play. Campaign US judged primarily by brand-side CMOs. Ad Age judged by mix of peers, publication staff and brand leaders. Adweek is invite only, no fee. Ad Age and Campaign lean more to weight work success tipping wins. Adweek, more comprehensive to agency culture/agency initiatives and work.

Once AdAge put Edelman in their Agency A-List it pretty much killed all those lists overnight. There have been quite a few hilariously bad agencies making those lists since.

But there have been a number of really bad agencies making those top 10 lists across all the pubs since (even adweek and campaign). They’ve just kind of become a joke.
Better to be on the list than not.
And any chance to be humbled and honored is a huge deal on linked in.
I rn ever understood how an agency of the year is chosen. Anyone know?
I think i remember we submitted a video and case study for the pitch before. Every year, there was a small push. I don’t think the title it matters much to us employees to have on a resume or anything, maybe just in the moment for a little pride, moral boost and knowing what your doing is acknowledged by your peers, and maybe that your at decent shop, and the leaders maybe know what they’re doing…even if it seems like they may surely not at times!
But its a big deal for new business, and the pitch consultants, current clients and prospective clients. Especially if your’e an agency getting into the top ten for the first time.
There are just so many of them...
