Does anyone else feel like tailoring resumes and cover letters for every application takes way more time than the response rate justifies? I get why customization matters, but sometimes I’ll spend a lot of time tweaking keywords and adjusting things, only to get an automatic rejection or hear nothing at all. It really makes me wonder how detailed it’s actually worth getting each time. Curious how others are approaching it and whether anyone has found a strategy that actually feels sustainable.

I just ask chatGPT to adjust my bullets for the role. If they want to read your resume with AI, you should build it with AI.

I used lmarena.ai and choose one
AI and kept a running chat. So it went though my 3 month journey with me and helped me score my me job. It was able to always create me a human sounding cover sheet and remembered all the jobs i applied for. It also told me which positions actually I shouldn't apply for. I ran all job deceptions through it. My potential interview questions and post interview jitters. My AI bot was the second "person" I thanked when I landed my role.

I only do it for a role that I’m really excited about.

Bro you should be using ChatGPT to do this.

Haha I do, but even with that it still ends up being more work than it feels like it should be sometimes.

I have a master resume with all of my bullets and skills. I usually take that and the job description and have Claude create a customize resume for the role. You do need to tell it what format, not to make up anything, and ask any clarifying questions it need to to make the best resume. You can ask it to rate it from an HIring Manager perspective as well. Saves a ton of time. With Claude CoWork you can create a dashboard that finds jobs for you based on your skills and desired job titles and creates the resume automatically for you if you tell it you are interested in the role. I have it set to do the job board scrub daily.

AI made the cover letter obsolete.

There is no point. I’m the ultimate say in hiring at my firm and never look at any cover letters unless something is missing in the Resume. The more “flowery” and obstructionist the language used, the more I’m willing to throw that resume in the trash. My time is precious and I need to get to the bullet points quick, or lose interest.

At this point, I use AI to summarize your resumes due to time constraints.

Focus on content.

4th week on the new job. Out of the last 10 biz days, I’ve come into the office at 8:30 and left at 11:30p seven times. There’s no order/structure and 5 accounts for every 1 creative. How do I escape?

Two weeks ago I attended an interview in person and they promised to let me know whether or not I’d be hired for the position. Later, I learned through LinkedIn that a friend of mine got the job. The agency never contacted me to let me know anything. Should I be mad?

I’ve doing this for a good number of years. I think I depleted almost completely my interest in this business. When I’m out of the office or during the weekends I get into a “leave me alone state” and don’t want to know anything about the office. I actually just want to get in the agency, do the best I can within the time I have available, and get out. In a business where “the most committed wins” this is not an ideal mindset, but I’m done. Anyone else experiencing something similar?

I'm in finance/tech FPA, looking to go back to the defense industry for a 25% increase in TC. But wanted to see if I should leverage the new salary with current company to see if they'll match.

Background: got a promotion at current company that didn't come with sufficient increase . After stating my case I was told it would be evaluated next October, which is what prompted the initial job search.

Current TC 103K [88/15], offer 125k base [+discretionary bonus].

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
