Several of my consulting clients use WealthCounsel, and while I am sometimes not entirely satisfied with the documents they produce, they do provide solid materials. I am less familiar with their education programming, but I would say this should be the primary benefit of this kind of relationship.
Years ago I provided consulting services to clients of AAEPA when they were between education directors. They did have pretty good educational programming, but what I observed working in that role was that many subscribers had essentially no knowledge of the subject area. And limited curiousity to learn more.
And I continue to see this with some -- not all, but some -- WealthCounsel subscribers. They seem to view this as a marketing opportunity, get the client in the door, plug them into the forms, deposit the check, and forget about it.
Serious estate planning requires an entirely different commitment. You are on a permanent path of developing and refining your knowledge of the substantive law.
How did the AAEP membership go? Thanks!
My current firm has a WealthCounsel membership and I totally think it's worth it.
Thank you!
I use ElderCounsel and really like it. It helps me think through the scenarios more in-depth and helps point me towards resources if I have questions. They also have webinars (both live and pre-recorded) to help flesh out areas that I need to further study.
WealthCounsel is similar, but is more focused on traditional estate planning (as opposed to elder law and special needs planning) and provides tools for business matters.
Thank you!
