Texas biglaw: let’s name & shame firms who expect us to go back to the office five days a week with no hybrid model going forward.

Personally, I will continue to WFH twice a week despite my firm “strongly encouraging everyone to be in the office once vaccinated.” Wtf are they going to do? I’m an adult and if I’m billing my hours, it shouldn’t matter.

So let’s name, shame, & make it clear to these firms and their boomer management that we will not go back to the pre-Covid miserable grind.

Wondering about potential exit/in-house opportunities for different practice groups. I’m currently in big law and choosing between general corporate deal work (M&A/PE) and tech transactions. Do either of these give better in-house (or other) opportunities later on?

How do people give their notice?

Got an offer I'm planning to take. I primarily work with 1 partner and two counsel. Should I send an email individually to each with my notice? Ask if they have time for call and tell them on the phone, with a follow up email for the record?

Interested to hear what others' experiences &/or preferences are? I'm sure they'll be panicking given we're already understaffed.

Do Big Law firms try to talk or negotiate associates out of other offers? Or do they just let you go without much discussion? I knocked some past reviews out of the park and am feeling pretty guarded starting a new job search.

There is a good case for higher year end bonuses this year. All in comp is down in 2022 taking into account special bonuses last year. So unless PPP takes a real hit, I’d like to see a modest bonus increase. Doubt PPP is going to be down by that much (in many cases not at all) for the top 30 firms. And with firms trimming fat, that should mean higher bonuses for those that are left. Idk about the rest of you, but my firm feels as busy as ever (M&A).
