Any tips for young associates in estate planning? Or stories of your struggles when you first started out in estate planning?

Hi all, I am a 4th year chemistry PHD student (International/Indian) and will surely finish in about a year, around Aug23. It can work for pharma (Merck, Pfizer, GSK etc.) as a scientist. However, I recently learnt that consulting firms particularly MBB also hire PHDs from diverse background. I am wondering what steps can I take in a year to do the transition if its possible? Or do I need to get some big brand name on my CV to do the transition?

I want to quit and go into advocacy work full time. I got a taste of it last week and loved the feeling I was left with. But I have amazing benefits and a stable career so I don’t know if I’m ready to give that up for more fulfilling work that might not pay out or could be the first to go in a recession. Anyone weighed between a career based on passion vs financial stability (let’s be honest, no one sane does this shit for fun) and the passion won?

I have been offered a job at KPMG within cyber security in the uk. Originally it was a 25% hike offer. Now I have received a 8% hike at Deloitte as part of the current performance cycle along with a 5k bonus (great incentives every year) The only thing is KPMG is offering this in a @kpmg regional location where I’m based plus the disadvantage is I need to pay 2500£ for my dependent visa costs which I can save if I continued with Deloitte. Seen Lot of negative comments about KPMG. Any thoughts ?

I’ve been working as an estate planning attorney in State A for the last 4 years. My husband just got his dream job (very high paying, lots of career opp for him) in State B. We’re still deciding what makes most sense for our family, but we’re leaning toward heading to State B. Anyone have any experience with this - moving states when EP can be so state specific? I’m worried how I’ll market myself/find a new job/start over.
