Does it bother you if partners give your direct reports feedback directly? Would it prefer that it go to you directly first? Would love to know what your preferences are and why. I know some people who consider it inappropriate if the feedback is not funneled through themselves first.

It bothers me only because I want to be on the same page with my direct reports and understand what they're working on. It's not about control for me, it's about having oversight over my team and making sure I'm not saying something contradictory from the partners and vice versa.

This would bother me if it ever happened. Luckily our leadership team respects me enough to pass any feedback they have on my direct reports to me first. There is no reason for them to share it directly with my team.
