Gross, there are so many idioms like this that went from commonplace to totally tone deaf, in the span of just a few years. “Open the kimono,” “presentation length should be like a skirt - long enough to cover the essentials but short enough to be interesting” etc on and on and on.

I mean, they were all pretty funny (and I’m a feminist leaning female), but to me it’s interesting that those kinds of idioms went from “colorful” to “wildly inappropriate” so quickly.

To colleague having a baby: “ are you expecting a snow shoveler or a dishwasher?”

Wrong in so many ways

Yeah I do both

Was once in a disagreement with a PM and she was saying I was “double teaming” her 😳

Mansplaining? I was referring to the sexual term as I know nothing about sportsball.

* beneath the covers

I think this is taken from a review of a mathematical article or similar; I feel confident I’ve seen it on r/math.

Biggest pet peeve in the office? I’ll go first. I’m really sensitive to scents so I hate when people eat lunch at their desk. It’s even worse if I’m a new employee, cuz it’s like, are you on lunch or are you working?? Can I ask you a question or not? I always take my lunches away from my desk and other people who didn’t volunteer to smell it. Anyway though. What bugs you?

What happens when you literally CANNOT get tasks or assignments done because of other tasks or assignments? For context I’m out of town for work, had three 14 hour days with the client/ product, now have two different decks due today and am traveling home by air until 10pm. My bosses attitude is like “well why not?” about this whole scenario. Trying to work on deck in my downtime but also need to like…eat…and sleep.
