What’s the real equivalency of the US presidency? Fortune 100 CEO? Fortune 10?

I think if the job was paid at market, we are talking easily $10-15M a year given its scope and impact. $400k is peanuts

like

And people thinking that the POTUS position is liken onto that of a business CEO are one of the reasons that the USA is in a state of decline and fast heading for a cliff; a nation-state is NOT a business.

like

Generally speaking, sure. This one? Not on your life. He's grifted millions from the country already. One of the only convicted felons I can think of who's being paid a six-figure salary.

funny

YES, a president should make more than 400k

like

It’s largely irrelevant in the current day, since a president can raise millions through speeches, books, bitcoin, etc
$400k seems reasonable as a token amount. No one is going to take the job for it, but it covers all basic expenses.

400k doesn’t even cover the expenses the president has to pay themselves. All the dinners with foreign dignitaries are paid by the president - not the US government.

That’s why Clinton and Obama came out of the WH with debt. Sure they made it back easily, but I find it off that the president is indebted after the presidency

Let’s be real, the $192/hour is just PR math. Between private deals, boards, and speaking gigs, etc. The pay’s symbolic compared to what they gain after. But, yeah, it's a lot.. but a lot of responsibility and stress comes with it.

They have to pay presidents something, as not all of them, even in the modern era, have come into the job wealthy. The current situation is highly unusual as we've never seen this level of corruption, with money pouring in from overseas to crypto schemes and other shady endeavors. So the salary doesn't matter. It's sort of like how the salary John Gotti reported as a plumbing supply salesman didn't really matter as he was being recompensed elsewhere.

$400k to golf as much as he does? Meh. I don't love it.

400k is just symbolic number and the presidential position is a leverage for “not-be-shared” millions or billions of dollars. Early Access or authority to information is most advantageous.

I’m starting a financial analyst position at a major hospital system in my area soon and want to stick with that for a couple years before making a transition but was curious if I just don’t have the right experience for a role in advisory.

Additional Posts in Salary & Compensation

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different

Just to note, this is about a 25% increase compared to what I am currently making.
