Asking for my husband…

We both think he’s underpaid.

Masters degree in architectural engineering (focus on mechanical)

Works on large job sites doing commissioning and project management as a “commissioning engineer” (large in sq footage and high profile jobs for a large Midwest city)

8 YOE on large projects in the Midwest

He’s making 75K.

Not in Engineering but $75k feels severely underpaid given a masters degree and 8YOE. Am sure if your husband actively looks around he can find a huge raise.

I see project managers making 250 in DC with a bachelor’s. So…yes

I'm not in architectural engineering, but I would say with 8 YOE he should be paid drastically more.

like

Wildly underpaid

like

I think that field doesn’t pay well. My brother in law is an architect and only makes about $55k.

like

Definitely underpaid, I work in the O&G sector in Operations and now a EHS role. I know the engineers with just 1-2years is at 100k. I think project management and 8 YOE should get him around at least closer to 150k plus he has a masters too. Have you guys try to do some research on salary in your area?

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .

Hello PwC AC Friends,

I have been on bench since I joined the firm 3 months ago. Now I have got project but still on bench. I have got mail regarding not raising snapshots because I was on bench so i didn't do anything except trainings and some learning. I don't have hours to raise snapshot for.

What shall I do in this case? I am very much worried that if i don't have any project hours to show, will they fire me or what actions are supposed to be taken ? Thanks.

I think I know the answer, but want to hear others’ opinions before giving up on the dream. I’m currently at $120k base with 6 yoe. Is there any chance I can get close to that as a fed in the IC? Or am I just looking at a GS11 step 1 that’ll hurt pretty bad? Are there any perks that can help offset the lost income like childcare stipends (the agency mentions a childcare subsidy on their benefits site but I can’t find what that actually means)? Thanks!

A question from a youngster. Is working at a big big company with slightly low pay better or working at a much smaller company with higher pay better?

In the future, after a few years, let’s say I’m at a small company and want to switch to big big company, will the “small names” hurt my chance to get into the big doors?

I mean big big company is like 10x bigger than the small one if this was a factor. Assume everything else the same, WLB, commute, teams, etc.
