Does West Elm have any resale value? Planning to buy some furniture but may have to move from the city in a couple of years.

Yes if it’s a good quality item. I’ve found west elm to be super hit or miss and know I wouldn’t be able to sell some of my pieces.

like

Agreed on hit or miss but most people won’t pay a decent amount for second hand furniture.

like

No it won’t have a resale value. Used furniture is in a deep discount market due to buyers characteristics and needs. Unless they are truly timeless artisanal designs from a boutique store, the rest will be just similar to a used furniture price of IKEA.

I bought a secondhand West Elm dresser — owner bought it for $1500 and sold it to me for $250

I was in one of those buildings with an online bulletin board and another tenant posted they were moving out and selling for $300. I negotiated a little off since there were some evident scratches but otherwise a steal!

I’ve been doing some reading around Crypto but don’t currently hold any positions.

I haven’t managed to get any confirmed scholarships or financial aid packages so this post, as you can tell, comes from a place of exhausting every possible option. Any help massively appreciated.

I’m currently in a 1BR for $2400. Am I crazy to pay $3k for a studio in a much nicer building in the same area? My current building is trash and I realized having an updated kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room would be really nice, but not sure if it’s worth the price tag vs finding another place at $2500ish. I’ll be local for the foreseeable future even post-COVID

For the NJ folks who work in NYC - my potential new employer has offices in both NJ and NYC. The NJ office is a 1.5 hour drive vs. NYC ~40 min commute via train. Still very much hybrid work arrangement. Given the option, which office would you prefer to be based out of and why? Mostly asking from a tax perspective. While I believe it’ll even out when filing, I’d be paying state tax in both states throughout the year, right?
